Do you think social media is good for teenagers?

Every teen nowadays definitely uses social media, even teens that don’t have social media are considered weird. There is no doubt that many teens are speeding many times on their social media, even social media has become a part of their lives. Social media has consequences both positive and negative.

One advantage of social media for teens is that teens can increase their creativity by creating any creative content, such as tik tok content, or even they can sell their product or their works in social media and make a brand of it (online marketing). Another advantage of social media for teens is they are easy to receive worldwide news and information because in social media the information is spread so fast. Also, teens can reach a large audience to make friends, connections and create a network of digital friends from any place (worldwide connectivity).

In another hand, social media has a bad side for teens. Too much spending time on social media can decrease productivity and increase laziness. So much content that appears on social media, either it’s a good one or a bad one, makes teens crave to search it for more. If teens are just stuck with social media, there is a possibility that they will have a bad skill in social life. They will hardly talk face-to-face with real people. Besides, the freedom of speech that social media give to us, might be lead to cyberbullying. The lower self-esteem that teens can get from social media might be lead them to the negative side. Instead of trying to become more confident, they tend to mock and throw a hate speech out of their jealousy and incompetence.

In conclusion, social media has a good side and a bad side. It depends on the teens, which sides they want to get from social media. If they dive into the good sides, so many things can lead them to be more creative, productive, and innovative. But if they dive into the bad sides, they might become an ignorant and bad-tempered person. So, use your social media wisely!
